As part of the London 2012 Open Weekend in Aberdeen, a team of sculptors, printmakers,
poets, filmmakers and skateboarders will take their handmade pop-up creative hub
to various sites around the city.
The Mobile Creative Village project will consist of a cluster of wooden shacks that
will appear at different locations in Aberdeen city centre over the weekend of 23–25
July. Various arts activities will be taking place in these shacks, and one shack,
curated by poet/musician Haworth Hodgkinson, will be dedicated to the performing
arts.
There will also be a scribbling wall where people can contribute random words and
thoughts in and around the theme of the environment. Please visit the shack at any
time during the weekend and feel free to contribute to the wall, spend a little
time writing, or join in one of the performances.
Performances will take place on the hour at 4pm and 5pm on Friday and from 2pm to
5pm on Saturday and Sunday. A more detailed running order will be available at the
shack, but you can expect to hear poetry from Grant Fraser, E. E. Chandler,
Keith Murray, Gráinne Smith, Steve Webb, Benjy Penman
and Catriona Yule, and stories from Rachel Grant, Martin Walsh,
Fiona-Jane Brown and Pauline Cordiner.
